What are Math and Science?
Mathematics refers to the study of numbers and their operations, as well as of abstractions and space. Earth science is a broad term referring to the sciences involved in the study of the Earth, and physical science refers to the sciences that study the nature of energy and matter.
Engineering as a Field
Consider all of the things that have been constructed in our world: houses, cars and reclining chairs; playground equipment, technical camping tents and tennis shoes; chemical compounds, electronic devices and farm equipment. The construction of each of these things and a plethora of others has, at some point, required the wisdom, knowledge, and guidance of an engineer. The field of engineering then is as broad as the sky is vast.
Engineers specialize in particular types of design—structural, mechanical and electronic, to name a few—and they work in a variety of capacities. Environmental engineers, for example, work to find solutions to pressing environmental problems. Civil engineers, for example, plan and design the development of infrastructure projects. Biomedical, marine, and materials engineers, for example, analyze and design medicine, build and maintain sea vessels, and design, develop, and test a range of products. Any product you can think of required or requires the brilliance, ingenuity, and skilled input of an engineer. If you are someone who has always been curious about how things are built or has always wanted to invent and design new products, the field of engineering might be a perfect field for you.

Graduate programs at the Department of Applied Physics at Curtin University focus on practical and applied projects in enviromental monitoring, science education and to support the research and develo
Theoretically and experimentally oriented Master of Science (M.Sc.), Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs are offered in a number of key areas of geophysics.
Our goal is to produce graduates with the technical competence to compete with anyone in geotechnical engineering.
The University of Florida is a member of the consortium running the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.
The Physics department at Montana State University is widely known for its excellent teaching and student mentoring. We have strong academic programs with graduate curricula leading to the M.S.
This M.A. program is suited to bright students who have undergraduate degrees in either physics or philosophy and who aspire to do original research in the conceptual foundations of modern physics.
The growth of nanotechnology is one of the most exciting developments in science and engineering in recent years.
The University of Twente is a university with a strong international outlook. We have placed the strengthening of international contacts and exchanges high on our priorities for development.
Two routes are available for the Master of Science in Physics. Plan 1 requires 30 semester hours of credit: 24 hours of course work plus a 6-hour thesis (PHYS 6398 and PHYS 6399).
The Department attaches great importance to its research and the training of its graduate students.
The Physics Department at Mines offers a full program of instruction and research leading to the M.S. and Ph.D.
The Physics Department at SDSU offers a program leading to the M.S. in Engineering with an area of emphasis in Physics.
The Department of Physics at DePaul University offers a Master of Science in Applied Physics.
We make every attempt to allocate you to a supervisor directly in your field of interest, consistent with available funding and staff loading.
Both masters and Ph. D. degrees are offered in a broad spectrum of physics disciplines. All full time graduate students receive financial support.
